Reaping the Benefits of Continued Online Learning
This year, kids Australia-wide have had to accept with open arms and gravitate towards online learning. For so many parents and students alike, this process was challenging and not something that came easy. It has extended the gap between Australia’s advantaged vs. disadvantaged students, something that will take a long time for so many to recover from. Despite schools having reverted back to face-to-face learning, we should not forget all that we have learnt along the way, as there is so much value that online learning can continue to provide in each and every one of our lives.
Online learning is flexible, customisable and accessible. It can be accessed from anywhere, at any time. You can commit 5 minutes, or 5 hours, depending on personal needs and capabilities. There is endless choice when it comes to online learning subject matter, skill level, style of learning, demographic, and so on. As such, it can be customised in accordance with your child’s individual needs. They can opt to learn about the things that interest them most, set their own learning schedule, and move at a pace that works for them.
Whilst their education is no longer dependent on online learning, it is something that can continue to be used to facilitate their ongoing learning and development. Whether they need a little extra support in a particular area of their studies, or wish to further themselves and supplement their current school curriculum, online learning remains a fantastic option.

Our kids are spending on average, 3 hours of screen time each day. Why not make better use of this time, without removing your kids completely from the digital world. If they’re going to opt for screen time regardless, let’s put that time to better use!
We have all gone through the motions of transitioning to online learning. We have struggled, been frustrated, felt like we have failed, and eventually, come to terms with this new style of learning. Rather than devaluing all that we have learnt and treating it as something that we no longer need, let’s continue to use it to supplement our children’s lives. There is really nothing to lose, and so much to gain!
