Chip-In and Make a Difference
My School Connect endeavours to make online easy for schools, parents, and students. The focus has always been on streamlining the business operation, reducing the reliance on resources, and making online easy for all. Whilst improving efficiencies and making a business or School more viable – both financially and logistically, is of utmost importance to all schools, being a ‘good samaritan’ is of equal importance and helping the greater good of those we come in contact with. As such, we developed Operation “Chip-In”.

Operation Chip-In is used to define a feature integrated into the My School Connect system. Schools can choose to opt-in to this feature, in turn providing parents/users with access to donating funds. The Chip-In function allows a parent/user to round their order up to the nearest $dollar, or select a $amount of their choosing, when placing a lunch order for their child. There is no obligation to chip-in, parents decide when and how much they would like to donate, at their will.
How is it being used?
The Chip-In feature is being used among schools Australia-wide to raise funds for an array of reasons:
- Buildings
- School facilities
- Events
- Technology
- Help those in need / donate to charity
This year, there has been a surge in the number of those ‘in need’. The dire effects of COVID-19 have been far reaching and some of our schools are looking for ways to raise funds to support those parents in need. One of our schools in New South Wales is using the Chip-In feature for parents to help other parents purchase essential school items, of which they would otherwise not be able to afford.
How has it benefited schools?
The Chip-In feature has been used by over 120 schools over the last 5 years. We have helped to raise more than $23,000.00 during this period, helping both businesses and people in need.
How can the Chip-In feature be implemented?
It’s just a matter of turning on the Chip-In feature – this can be done by logging into your Dashboard > Settings > Chip-In and populating the necessary fields. Simply SAVE and you’re ready to go. Don’t forget to name your cause!
